Christoph Schnaithmann

Christoph Schnaithmann was born in 1988 in Dresden. After some piano lessons he started his musical education in 1998 with the tenor horn. One year later he began playing the trombone at the Heinrich Schütz Konservatorium in Dresden with Lutz Jurisch.
Between 2000 and 2008 he participated annually in the competition „Jugend musiziert“ and received several first prices in solo as well as in ensemble categories.
From 2004 until 2008 Christoph Schnaithmann was a student at the Sächsisches Landesgymnasium für Musik in Dresden. There he studied under Professor Olaf Krumpfer who ist also his professor at the HFM „Carl Maria von Weber“ in Dresden since 2008.
Christoph Schnaithmann gained first experience with an orchestra as a member of the Landesjugend- and the Landesjugendjazzorchester Sachsen, of the Dresden Jugendsinfonieorchester of the Heinrich Schütz Konservatorium and of the Junges Sinfonieorchester of the Landesgymnasium. With this orchestra he appeared as a solo trombonist in the Kreuzkirche Dresden and in the House of Bruckner in Linz.
Since November 2008 he works as a substitute at the Dresden Philharmonie and since January 2009 also at the Saxon State Orchestra.
Christoph Schnaithmann ist also trombonist of the brass quintet „Canaletto Brass“ which won the 1st price at the International Brass Player Competition in Passau in 2008.
